Argiano’s Brunello di Montalcino has an intense ruby-red colour. A good concentration in the mid- palate and a persistent aftertaste, yet round and luscious in body, with silky and interesting tannins. It combines power and elegance and indicates a much promising future. Together with the captivating perfumes of red fruits and the clean freshness, the complexity of the wine proves an optimal balance. Decant the wine for at least 1 hour before drinking for an optimum enjoyment.

International Wine Cellar

Deep garnet core with a ruby rim. Heady sottobosco aroma reminiscent of sweet pipe tobacco laced with the perfumed scent of violets. Deep plum flavor mingles with cherry jam, bitter chocolate and roasted coffee bean; very fresh and clear. The wine offers a superb sense of depth and harmony on the middle palate, and the tannins are firm but ripe. The long, silky finish is graced by an undercurrent of anise. Generous, suave, and delicious.

Score: 96. —Edward Beltrami, July 2002.

Wine Spectator

Dark ruby, with hints of red on the edge. Blackberry aromas, with hints of fresh porcini and fresh meat. Full-bodied, with velvety tannins and a long, long finish. Layered and beautiful. Better than I remember.--1997 Italian blind retrospective.

Score: 93. —James Suckling, 2007.

Wine Enthusiast

The large 246-acre estate is owned by Countess Noemi Cinzano, of the vermouth family. With Giacomo Tachis as consultant, the vineyard has produced a powerful, rich wine that combines dryness, bitter fruits and dark tannins with generous tarry, super-ripe fruit that promises to come through and dominate as the wine ages. Drink after 7–8 years.

Score: 92. —Roger Voss, August 01, 2002.
