The color is a deep, murky ruby/purple (more saturated than any previous Belles Soeurs). Aromatically, this wine is similar to the 1999, with foresty floor aromas intermixed with sweet and sour dense black cherries. Firmly structured, muscular, and dense, this concentrated Shea is just beginning to shed its tannin and reach its plateau of maturity, where it should remain for 7-8 years. Impressive in a large-scaled Côtes de Beaune-like style. Very long.

Actual bottle from our inventory is pictured. These bottles are in excellent condition, from their original case and all fills are into the neck. All bottles are as good or better than the bottle pictured. Wine Spectator

This has come on beautifully, retaining a lovely sense of polish and refinement along with exotic spice-accented plum and cola flavors, lingering with vivid character against the silky finish.--1998 Oregon blind retrospective (September 2008). Drink now. 600 cases made.

Score: 92. —Harvey Steiman, 2008.
