A dense ruby, almost purple color offers up notes of black cherries intermixed with wood and foresty smells. Sweet, rich, medium-bodied, with delicate, nuanced flavors that cascade over the palate with no hard edges. Acidity provides vibrancy and focus. An impressive, strong effort for this vineyard, it should rival the brilliant 2000.

Actual bottle from our inventory is pictured. These bottles are in excellent condition, from their original case and all fills are into the neck. Wine Enthusiast

Winemaker Mike Etzel set out to design a more elegant, feminine companion Pinot to his much-acclaimed Beaux Frères bottling, and this wine really hits the mark. The bright fruit mixes tart raspberry/strawberry flavors that seem to gain weight and complexity in the glass. Over the course of an evening the wine draws you back to it again and again, as the fruit seems to put on flesh and nuances of spice and oak, extending into a deliciously long, sensuous finish.

Score: 93. —Paul Gregutt, November 01, 2001.
