Beringer Bancroft Ranch Merlot 1992
Bancroft Ranch produces clusters with small berries whose high skin-to-fruit ratio results in well structured wines with concentrated flavors. The flavors are further enhanced by the climate: the vineyard is about 5 to 10 degrees cooler than the valley floor but experiences more hours of sunshine over the course of a day because it is above the fog belt.

Beringer's 1992 Bancroft Ranch Merlot ranks with the finest Matanzas Creek and Newton Merlots. It is a large-scaled, rich, ostentatiously-styled, chocolatey-flavored, full-bodied Merlot with deep color saturation, plenty of gutsy, chewy fruit, full body, and excellent purity and balance. Once again Beringer has shown that international corporate ownership can be synonymous with reference point wines. While it can be drunk now, this Merlot promises to be even better with 2-4 years of cellaring; it should last for 10-15 years.

Smooth and harmonious, with a supple core of black cherry, currant, earth and toasty oak that folds together nicely on the finish, the flavors becoming more complex and elegant as it progresses. This vintage adds one more to this California vineyard's fine track record for world-class Merlot. 9,000 cases made.

Screw Cap
Wines sealed with a screw cap as opposed to a cork, which experts report protects and preserves wine more effectively than does a cork, while also eliminating the possibility of cork taint.
No Sulfites
All wines naturally contain some sulfites, however wines that contain less than 10 parts per million sulfites are not required to include "Contains Sulfites" on their labels.
