Vecina, which means "neighbor" in Spanish, was inspired by beautifully terraced slopes on the western foothills above Oakville. This site faces east, favorably positioning the vineyard to receive morning sun and the cooling influence of the San Pablo Bay. Rich in color and generous on the palate, Vecina displays an essence of intensity and power.

Actual bottle from our inventory is pictured. These bottles are in excellent condition, from their original case and all fills are into the neck. All bottles are as good or better than the bottle pictured.

Wine Spectator

Gobs of up-front mocha-scented oak lead to a core of plush currant and blackberry fruit. While there's no denying the strong presence of oak, it adds a wonderful dimension. Best from 2004 through 2012. 675 cases made.

Score: 93. —James Laube, November 15, 2003.

Wine Advocate

The dense ruby/purple-colored 2000 Vecina offers up aromas of loamy earth, black fruits, chocolate, and toasty wood. I would not call it superficial, but it is no match for its younger sibling. Medium-bodied, with beautiful fruit, excellent purity, and a long, complex finish, it will drink well for 10-13 years.

Score: 90. —Robert Parker, December 2003.

International Wine Cellar

Good red-ruby color. Aromas of wild black raspberry, chocolate, graphite and sexy, smoky oak. Tightly wound and perhaps less dense than the '99, but riper than the 2000 Melbury. Flavors of currant, minerals and truffle. Finishes with big, youthfully aggressive tannins and very good length.

Score: 90. —Stephen Tanzer, May 2003.
