La Mondotte is carefully supervised when it is left on the skins so that the perfect degree of extraction is attained. Furthermore, winemaking is adapted to each vintage. Both alcoholic and malolactic fermentation take place in new oak barrels. The wine is aged on its lees, and every imaginable effort is made in order to produce a great wine.
Actual bottle from our inventory is pictured. These bottles are in excellent condition, from their original case and all fills are well into the neck. All bottles are as good or better than the bottle pictured.

Wine Advocate
From a 11.3-acre vineyard cropped at 25 hectoliters per hectare, this blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc is a candidate for perfection. The 2000 La Mondotte has a saturated, inky purple color to the rim and a tight but enormously promising nose of blackberry and cassis liqueur intermixed with cherry, vanilla, espresso, mocha, and a hint of acacia flower. This unfined and unfiltered wine is enormously rich, with great intensity, fabulous purity, a layered texture, and a viscous, full-bodied finish that goes on for nearly one minute. In spite of its size, the wine has remarkable finesse and delineation. This is another tour de force in winemaking from proprietor Stephan von Neipperg and winemaking consultant Stephane Derenoncourt. Anticipated maturity: 2007-2030. P.S.
Score: 98. —Robert Parker, April 2003.International Wine Cellar
Deep, bright ruby. Knockout nose combines kirsch, cassis, violet, espresso, graphite, minerals and toast. Extremely powerful and urgent on the attack, then remarkably lush, dense and full in the middle, with fresh acidity to frame and brighten the dark berry, game and truffle flavors. The major, thoroughly ripe tannins arrive very late, coating the front teeth. For fans of this expensive cult wine, this is a freakishly strong vintage. 95 points.
Score: 95. —Stephen Tanzer, May 2003.Wine Spectator
Subdued, but impressive concentration of berry, cherry and mineral character. Full-bodied, very silky, with a lovely texture and a long, inviting finish. Smoky, coffee character. A silky and sexy wine that develops into a big and powerful red. La Mondotte is a great wine. Best after 2010. 830 cases made.
